Importance of Responsive Web Design

If you have been looking into having a web site built for you or your business recently then chances are you will have come across the term ‘Responsive Design’. In a nut shell this means that your website changes and adapts, depending on which device it is being viewed from, whether it be a PC, a tablet, a mobile phone or any other device, a responsive website will look good across all devices.

There are many reasons why responsive web design is so important and here are some of the main ones.

The rise in Mobile Usage – It is estimated that over 70% of website views come from people using mobile devices or tablets making it essential for all businesses that their websites are responsive.

Higher Google ranking – With responsive design now classed as the best practice, Google now uses mobile friendliness as a ranking signal in its search results so therefore a responsive website will boost your google rankings and drive more traffic to your website.

You only need one website – If your website looks great on all devices it means you don’t need a mobile version of your website building. This makes it cost effective as you only need to pay for the one site and only have the one site to maintain and it is also going to save you time as it means you only have one websites content to update.

Improve user experience – A responsive website automatically adjusts the content to fit on the screen depending on the screen size it is being viewed on, this means no more pinching and zooming or scrolling from side to side to see the entire site, resulting in a better user experience. A better user experience will greatly increase the chances of people returning to your website.

When having a website built for you or your business, responsive design should not be an added extra it should be the backbone of any website.
